Carrie Clark

Advisor

Dr. Carrie Clark is a key advisor at Empowr360,. She completed her doctorate in psychology at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, where her research demonstrated how MRI measures of brain development in preterm infants could predict executive function and academic achievement. Her work also emphasized the critical role of early parent-child interactions in supporting these developmental outcomes. She also contributed to a longitudinal research examining executive function and its influence on mathematics learning during early childhood and the transition to school.

Most recently, Dr. Clark has incorporated advanced neuroimaging and physiological methods into her research to deepen understanding of the neurophysiological bases of self-regulation and mathematical cognition. Her work with high-risk students, particularly those from backgrounds of poverty and maltreatment, has shed light on the connections between vagal tone and executive control. Additionally, she has conducted fMRI studies on relational memory and numerosity in both children and adults.
